The Sweet Magic of a Girls’ Weekend: Nourishing Your Heart and Soul

There’s something truly magical about a weekend away with your girlfriends....and I know this because I am lucky enough to have just gotten back from mine! In the midst of our busy schedules, endless responsibilities, and the constant demands of each of our daily lives, these little escapes become more than just a getaway—they fill our hearts and souls.

From the moment we all hit the road, there’s a shift. Our group text is full of excitement around arrival times and a bunch of "can't wait's!" The weight of our to-do lists, work stress, and household duties starts to lift, being replaced by anticipation, laughter, and the kind of deep conversations that only happen when you are with women who truly get you. You are free to exhale. While, we all seem to gravitate towards the beach, the sounds of the ocean is close to all of our hearts, the destination has always been secondary—the real magic lies in each other. Our famous line when planning our getaways is always, "we can have fun in a paper bag, as long as we are all together."

These weekends are about more than just big meals, spa treatments, and late-night chats over wine - although all of those big parts! To us, they are a reminder of the power of our friendship and our bond —the way it uplifts, encourages, and brings out the best in us. It offers a safe space to be ourselves, to share our joys and struggles, to giggle and to cry, and to receive the kind of support that can only come from the women who have walked our paths next to us. We all know the details of the others' lives, we know our struggles, our triumphs, our families, our fears and our dreams. It's taken a long time to grow these bonds, it's taken a lot of life, a lot of tears and support to get here. And one thing I've always loved to do is to celebrate that! Because, why not? It's a big deal! It's hard to find your people, but I've learned in all these years that when you do, you hold on so damn tight!

So, if you are reading this and feeling a little bit of the same, maybe it’s time to plan that girls’ getaway. Your heart, your soul, and your spirit will thank you for it. And so will your girlfriends. Too many times, I hear that there is not enough time, or we are just too busy. I get it. I understand that and it is true, but you must make time for the things that matter. You must make time for the relationships that matter. Friendship and bonds have to be held close and treated with importance. Maybe it doesn't have to be a whole weekend, maybe it's just a night, or a dinner, or a lunch. Start somewhere but start. I promise you won't be disappointed, and I promise you will fill your cup in ways you may never thought could be filled in such a short time.

XOXO,

Jody

To make the most of your time together, a little planning goes a long way. Here are some fun, easy tips to ensure your girls’ weekend is stress-free, fun, and filled with lasting memories:

1. Pick the Right Destination

Choose a location that suits your group’s vibe. Do you want relaxation? A spa or beach retreat might be perfect. Looking for adventure? A mountain cabin with hiking trails could be ideal. If shopping, dining, and nightlife are on the agenda, a city trip is the way to go.

2. Set a Budget Everyone Is Comfortable With

Money shouldn’t be a source of stress. Have an open discussion about costs and find a destination, accommodations, and activities that fit everyone’s budget.

3. Plan, But Don’t Over-Schedule

While it’s great to have some activities planned, don’t pack the itinerary too tight. Leave room for spontaneous moments—those are often the best memories! Aim for a mix of relaxation, fun, and downtime.

4. Choose Accommodations Together

Instead of booking separate hotel rooms, consider renting a house or condo where you can all stay together. This makes it easier to have late-night chats, cook meals together, and simply enjoy each other’s company.

5. Pack Smart and....Comfy!

Coordinate ahead of time so you don’t overpack. If you’re heading to a cool-weather spot, bring cozy loungewear for movie nights. For a beach trip, don’t forget matching cover-ups and fun sunglasses for IG-worthy moments. And always pack comfy shoes 😉

6. Prioritize Self-Care and Relaxation

A girls’ weekend should be about unwinding and recharging. Book a spa treatment, sleep in, take long walks, or simply lounge with a glass of wine. Give yourself permission to slow down.

7. Capture the Memories

Take photos and videos, but don’t spend the whole trip behind a screen. Enjoy the moments as they happen. Consider creating a shared album where everyone can upload their favorite shots from the weekend.

8. Unplug and Be Present

While it’s tempting to stay connected, try to limit work emails and social media scrolling. Give yourself a break from daily responsibilities and fully immerse yourself in the experience.

9. Show Gratitude for Each Other

Friendships like these are rare and precious. Take time to express appreciation for your girlfriends—whether through a heartfelt toast, a small thoughtful gift, or simply saying, “I’m so grateful for you.”

10. Make It a Tradition

Instead of letting years slip by before the next trip, set a plan to make it a tradition! Simple as that.

So, go ahead—start planning, pack your bags, and make some unforgettable memories!
